Radiosonde (Raob) Balloon
Note the red parachute used to lower the radio instrument package to the ground once the balloon popped or deflated.  Skeptics claim that the parchment-like material described by Roswell intelligence officer Major Jesse Marcel was the red paper parachutes sometimes used on the Mogul balloons.  But Marcel spoke of the parchment material being covered with strange writing and not burnable or cuttable with a knife.

Also note that any instrument package supposedly on the crashed Mogul would have been still connected to the parachutes.  The parachute shroud rings and balloon twine should also have been present.  No such debris was described by any witness.  Rancher Mack Brazel also specifically denied finding any string or wire at his interview the evening of July 8, 1947.
